Urgent Surgical Care With Clear Answers

Some injuries can’t wait for a next-day appointment. When a pet has a wound, bleeding, or painful trauma, timely surgical care can reduce complications and speed healing. We use brand-new in-house lab and imaging equipment to evaluate your pet before procedures, and we’ll explain recommendations in plain language so you understand options, risks, and what to watch for at home. (Please note that we do not currently perform C-sections.)

Laceration Repair

Prompt wound cleaning and surgical repair can help reduce infection risk and support faster, more comfortable healing.

Modern Diagnostics

Digital X-rays, ultrasound, and in-house bloodwork help assess stability and guide safer anesthesia and treatment decisions.

What to Expect From Surgery at Our Urgent Clinic

Your visit starts with a focused exam and a quick review of symptoms, timing, and any prior medical history you can share. If veterinary surgery is recommended, we’ll walk you through what the procedure involves, pain control options (including oral and injectable medications, nerve blocks, or continuous IV pain medication when appropriate), and aftercare. We welcome questions and keep you included—because transparency and education are central to how we practice. If overnight monitoring or hospitalization is needed, we will refer you to a local emergency hospital for 24/7 care. After your visit, you will receive detailed written instructions to help you continue care at home or with your primary veterinary clinic.

When Surgery May Be Recommended

Pets don’t always show pain clearly, so it helps to know which problems may require urgent surgical attention. If your dog or cat has any of the concerns below, call ahead or come in during our open hours. We’ll help determine the safest next step and coordinate referral when a critical care facility is the best option.

Cuts or Open Wounds

Deep lacerations, torn skin, or wounds that won’t stop bleeding may need surgical repair and bandaging.

Bite Wounds

Punctures can trap bacteria under the skin; cleaning, drains, and repair may be recommended to prevent infection.

Traumatic Injuries

Falls or accidents can cause painful swelling or internal concerns that need imaging and urgent treatment decisions.

Persistent Bleeding

Bleeding from a wound or nail injury that doesn’t improve should be evaluated promptly.

Severe Pain or Limping

Some painful injuries require imaging and stabilization to decide if surgery, splinting, or referral is needed.

Swelling or Rapidly Changing Wounds

Sudden swelling, heat, odor, or discharge can signal infection that may require procedural care.

Foreign Material in a Wound

Embedded debris may need removal and repair to protect tissue and reduce complications.

Overnight Monitoring Needed

If your pet requires hospitalization after surgery, we refer to a local 24 hour ER for continuous care.
